Between Portland and The Dallas

Highway 35? Highway 3 is in NE Oregon.

It's only 85 miles between Portland and The Dalles so most don't look for campsite in between. Seem to recall some dry campsites on the Columbia - use the forum search feature.

I’ve dawdled in Dallas and The Dalles.

We found the campgrounds in the Gorge to be a little noisy because of the trains. But we liked this RV park:

Crown Point in Corbett, OR

My uncle...52 years with Union Pacific.

There is a KOA at Cascade Locks.

That will absolutely work. I don't mind trains either, but I could sleep through a hurricane and my husband just turns off his hearing aids.
