Buck Creek or John Bryant State Parks near Dayton OH?

Is anyone familiar with either Buck Creek State Park or John Bryant State Park not far from Dayton, OH? We need a place to camp for about 12 days while delivering kids to college. We have a 30' Class A and can boondock but would appreciate electric since we will be there in mid-August.

Looking for a campsite with a bit of space, some shade might be nice, and walking/hiking trails would be a big plus. We will have a toad so day trips in the car are a definite possibility. Prefer a bit of peace & quiet, no need for swimming pools/game-rooms.

Is anyone familiar with either? Both have many electric sites available - any preferred? I have read reviews on both at www.RVParkReviews.com and both sound quite reasonable.

Any advice, experience, or campsite photos would be MOST appreciated!
  • Buck Creek S.P. will be great for you. Not far from I70,24 miles to Dayton from Springfield. John Bryan S.P. is near impossible to get a reservation ,which you would need .
    Good luck, Gman
  • We have stayed at John Bryant and thought it was a very nice place. There is a nice gorge with hiking trails nearby. Many people like eating at the Mill restaurant. Some of the biggest pancakes you have ever seen! Nice, quiet cg to relax. Sites are spread out nicely. You might enjoy day trips to Newport on the Levee or the aquarium on the Ky. side. Cincinnati has a wonderful zoo and many great museums. If you like theater, you can find all kinds of shows to attend. Never been to Duck Creek. In fact, I had never heard of it.
