Campground Jackson, TN

Any recommendations for stopping place for RV, Half way between Memphis and Nashville? We will be coming from Sallisaw, OK. I-40 traveling east. Also I-40 between Nashville and Greensboro, NC?
One night stops with small dog no kids. Thanks
  • Jackson RV Park (really just a paved lot with lines) is at the south side of exit 79. It is OK for a stop over. Tight spots, interstate noise (right on top of the exit) may be problems but it is the best choice of what's available. Behind a motel (Days inn I believe) and in front of a mobile home park. Have stayed there 3 times without a problem.
  • If you can do without hookups, we boondocked in Sam's Club parking lot next door to a Wal-mart in Jackson. There were several other campers there. It was a great location, if u just need a place to overnight.
  • The best place around here is Parkers Crossroads campground at exit 108, Lexington. Exactly halfway betweem nashville and Memphis. Older KOA campground returned to private ownership. New restrooms and showers built last year, Many other new improvements. Nice folks, and RV repair available if necessary. Tell them we sent you. Another goodplace is Natchez Trace State Park. Nice big RV campground, Resturant closeby at the Lodge. Reasonable rates with full hookups at every site. A bit harder to get to from the Interstate, (twisty road), but very nice campground. If you do need to go to Jackson, its about 30 miles, however there is a Walmart in Lexington. Shiloh Battlefield memorial in about 30 miles south. Parkers Crossroads Memorial and visitor Center is at exit 108.

x2 on Parker's Crossroads. The owners are really good people and it is a perfect overnight stop along I-40.
  • Natchez Trace State Park x2 for first stop.
For stop 2, there is a KOA in Newport TN halfway between Nashville and Greensboro. They have different sites and some 30 amp pull thrus that are less expensive.
  • This campground is up at Bristol, TN., and has been voted best in Tennessee several times. And, it is PassPort America, except during holidays and Race Week. Have been there several times and fully recommend it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, we need electric for husbands c-pap machine.
  • We stay at the Joy-O RV park between Brownsville and Jackson. Just off I-40, but quiet.

Simple, rural, rustic park with full hook ups.

Suits us. Definitely not a resort or destination, but good for overnight.
