Campground near I90 in Minnesota near Mississippi River

We'll be traveling from Custer State Park back home to Michigan in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for a campground that's on the Mississippi for us to stop at for the night. I'd like to hike and see the Mississippi after we arrive at night or in the morning before we continue on our way to Michigan.

I've found Great River Bluffs State Park, but there's no electricity. Frontenac State Park has electricity, but they are full that night. I'm late to the party and I know it.

Any suggestions?

Thank you so much! This is exactly what I was looking for and I didn't think it'd be possible on such short notice.

I was able to reserve a site with electricity and water right on the river. I'm beyond shocked, and very excited! What a great experience for my children (and myself).

The man that answered my call didn't want to reserve only one night instead of two, but he relented when I said we were traveling through. He took my name, but not my phone number or any contact info. I have no reservation number, etc. If it fails, we'll head to a Walmart! If it works out, it'll be an amazing experience!
Jake, the manager is a good egg, not terribly sociable, but he runs a clean ship. You are right on the flyway so eagles, pelicans, ducks, what have you. And you might catch a few barges.
  • Try to get up to Wabasha and stop at the National Eagle Center. Wabasha also has a city CG right near the river.Have a fun trip.
