If I were just passing through and wanted something nice and pretty place I would go with Natchez Trace, very nice spots. Parkers Crossroads is easy in and out but nothing to look at.
At NT go to the RV Camp, they have 3 camping areas but you want the RV Camp. Some spots you are able to reserve but others aren't. You should not have any trouble getting a spot.
We camp there often.

Thank you for your replies. Maybe we will check out "Joy O" campground, only need it for a Saturday and Sunday night. Then on to Nashville and the Smoky Mountains. Atlanta (Stone Mountain) after that. Its our first long trip since my retirement in December. Can't wait to hit the road with no definite timeline when to be home. Happy safe Travels to you,

One of the best and nearest is east of Jackson at Parkers Crossroads, exit 108. They have been working hard to do upgrades, and it is a lot better for the work. It is about 2 miles north of the Interstate. Next best is Natchez Trace state Park, however, now that they have gone to a national reservation system, check-in and reservations are taken at the ranger station, which is about 10 hard miles from the campground. Would be good to call first, and hope that someone knows what is going on. The campground is one of the best, the handling of it leaves a lot to be desired. I do not know anything about JoyO west of Jackson, so take someone elses advice there. Parkers Crossroads also hav a trained RV tech on site if there are any repairs you need.

If you do a Google search for `Jackson TN campground' you will find, among others, www.jacksonrvpark.com. Don't know anything about it, however.

We have stayed at Joy O several times. It is a very simple, country RV park--no frills, but full hook ups and a good place for us to stay when we visit the area. I know there are some other parks nearer to Jackson but we have never stayed in any of them.

Joy O is about 10 miles Southwest of town of Jackson. Between Jackson and Brownsville. That is where we would choose to stay.

Some of my ancestors came from Dancyville, TN to Texas. Dancyville is near Brownsville in Haywood County, so have visited that area several times. We have also stayed at Joy O on the way to Nashville and/or Kentucky.

Using Woodalls Campground search feature I see one with a good rating.

Woodalls has a terrific rating system with links to the cg websites too.

If I'm not familiar with an area I check rvparkreviews.com. I lived in that area many years ago but there were no rv campgrounds around then but things may have changed. Good luck
