Wondered if there are any nice campgrounds around Ashland, KY and/or Portsmouth OHio? We will be visiting family in both places and need a place to park our motorhome. Any recommendations?
Thanks,

Maybe a little far south than you want to be, try Beechfork State Park in WV. They have full serve hookups to primitive.

Between Wheelersburg and South Boston there is a small campground on the banks of the Ohio river. Can't remimber the name, might be the one you said. Mostly people who are fishing but might be ok for overnite. Also used to be a place west of Portsmouth on rte 52 near the Shawnee golf course that would probably be ok for overnite. Dont know of any others. Also a Walmart in New Boston if you like, a lot of people overnite there.

National Forest Campground Lake Vesuvius, has electric and central water points. I prefer Iron Ridge , rather than the loop.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. We were wanting a little closer to Portsmouth than Shawnee since it is just an overnight stay. We've seen a Lazy Village listed some where and a River Front but never heard of either of them. Could be trailer parks with a few RV spots, I guess. If you know anything about these we would appreciate your input.. Thanks again!

West of Portsmouth is Shawnee State Park. About a 15 minute drive from Portsmouth. Is a nice park and campground. Shawnee also has a nice inn with a nice resturant, and if you stay at the campground, you also have use of the pool at the inn. Be sure to eat at the Scioto Ribber in Portsmouth. Very good ribs and steaks.

US 52 between Portsmouth, OH and Ashland, KY. runs west to east along the southern border of Wayne National Forest. They have a variety of camping options from boon docking to HUs. I've never been there, but then I live too close to it. ๐Ÿ™‚
