Are there any full hookup campgrounds located on the East or South sides of Yellowstone that are not in the park?
Looking for suggestions for full hookup campgrounds for a 36 ft. fifth wheel.

I know about the campgrounds within the park.

Another vote for Fishing Bridge, I choose it for location. Now we stayed 7 days at Fishing Bridge, but in retrospect I should have done 5 in Fishing Bridge and 3 in West Yellowstone.(I know I added one day).

Note: I loved being in the park in the mornings & evenings, because until 9:30 am and after 5:30 pm is when the park was relative empty and we really felt like, we had the place to ourselves. At many of the waterfall overlooks in the evening, we were the only people there. In the morning I usually talked to the rangers and other park employees and tried to find out were there would be any recent animal kills or animal sightings.

As noted, Colter Bay is an excellent option for the size of your rig. If you have satellite, you won't get it in Colter Bay due to the trees, but the setting is amazing. Not to mention that there is a laundry, convenience store, gift shop, and restaurants in the village. Headwaters CG is another option, and used to be called Flagg Ranch. It is quite a drive from the East Entrance, but there are several RV parks in Cody, further in is Buffalo Bill state park, but there is only water and electricity, no sewer, but they do have a dump station. If you don't mind the drive, as we don't mind, there are a lot of options outside the park from the west side, south, and east. Many forest service campgrounds with electricity too. We often stay in those because we like the dry camping feel. Rex Hale on the east side, Falls off Togotwee Pass, and Bakers Hole north of West Yellowstone.

All these responses are the reason why I went with Fishing Bridge. they have FHU, located fairly centrally in the park, and will make getting around much easier.

Good luck!

Just to the south entrance to Yellowstone you have Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch with full hookups. It’s located between Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP. Also Colter Bay Village RV Park in Grand Teton NP has full hookups. I’ve stayed at both and recommend Colter Bay Village.

It’s a long drive from the east entrance of Yellowstone to any park or campground with full hookups.

On the east side you will be looking at the Cody area.

On the south side is Grand Teton Nat'l Park and there is Colter Bay RV within the park.

Either place would involve a lot of extra driving to see Yellowstone and I can't imagine it being done for multiple days which is needed to really see Yellowstone.

Why not stay at Fishing Bridge RV in Yellowstone? Call instead of using the online reservations system for a big rig site.

If you end up east of Yellowstone just remember that once you hit the East Entrance you still have a hour drive till you hit the loop..... If south of Yellowstone in Jackson it's about 2hrs to the loop. Your best bet would be up in Gardiner Montana as its only a few miles from Mammoth hot Springs which is on the loop. I'd just stay at Fishing Bridge and be in the middle of all the action.

Grizzly RV park in West Yellowstone, not far from the west entrance.

Yellowstone's Edge RV park, Livingston. (very nice, but on the north side.)

You might want to try the Allstays app for finding RV parks. It's my favorite.

Nearest east would be around Cody. A long ways from Yellowstone.
South would be near Jackson. Again along way from Yellowstone.
Island Park is west of Yellowstone.

Well we came into the Yellowstone area from Livingston, MT on our way back West from Wisconsin and decided on entering the Park from West Yellowstone.

With that, after some research, decided that the Red Rock RV Park in Island Park, ID would be a good base to explore the area....and we were not disappointed and would stay there again.

Info from our Trip Journal;

Island Park, ID.

In any event safe travels.
