Campgrounds near Yosemite

We have a 26' Winnebago View. We are new at this.

We want to spend time at Yosemite in late April early May 2019. Driving from Tucson to Yosemite then to Los Angeles near LAX for a graduation ceremony May 11
  • My parents tried to honeymoon in Yosemite years ago and couldn't because of the snow, at the beginning of April. But last year, I went up for the day the second week of April and it was lovely. I think as long as I had a good heater in my rig, it'd be fun to be there during the snow.
  • But, the benefit is that this is what the park looked like with the snow..
  • With a 26' View you could easily stay in the park. The Pines campgrounds open April 1st and we have never had a problem getting a site.
Just note there remains a possibility of snow in April/May so pack accordingly. It's a beautiful time to be there as the waterfalls will be wonderful

A few years ago we got snow in the middle of April.
This was the day we got there..

    This was the following morning..
  • My wife and I stayed at the Yosemite Westlake RV Park/campground during the summer pf 2016. The
nicest thing that I can say is that it was a place to park the RV and it had 30 amp electricity. There were 100 college age young men staying for an extended period of time while we were there. The shower facilities included one shower stall for men and one for women. The toilet was 1 stall for women, one stall and one urinal for men and there were several port-a-potties sitting next to the limited bathroom. Wi-fi was weak at best and you had to be sitting on a picnic table under the transmitter or it would not work. That was during the day while the 100 boys were not even there. I will not be staying there again.

I forgot to say that every picnic table was broken. They either did not have the diagonal brace at all or the bolts were pulled through the wood. If they didn't see the need to maintain the most basic piece of equipment in the campground, why would I think they would maintain anything else.
  • I've cleaned up this thread and removed all of the snotty responses.

Let's see if we can stick to the topic and provide some quality assistance.
  • Coming from Arizona and going to Yosemite in April/May you will not be able to use the 395/120 route due to snow. You'll instead have to use 99 to 41. Get your reservation 5 months in advance. That is a nice time of year for a visit. Good luck...
