Campgrounds Vt and Me

Second for Sugar Ridge in VT. Haven't been there for awhile but have family that travel from NJ to ME that stay there yearly. Certainly more commercialized with amenities than state park, but well kept campground with large sites.

North Beach CG is a municipal cg in Burlington, VT - right on the bike trail and Lake Champlain. Great location, but a little tight inside...has hookups. Grand Isle SP is just north of Burlington, VT - nice, more spacious, no hookups.Moose River CG (commercial) in St Johnsbury is nice. Just south of Gorham, NH on Rte 16 is Dolly Copp CG in the WMNF. Dry camping, spacious sites, nice location. Rte 2 across Maine is a good road but not what we consider very scenic... Hope you are headed to Acadia National Park on the east end of your travels! ST

We've stayed in Groton state park a few times. It's nice. Not really any services nearby if that matters.

Sugar Ridge CG near St. Johnsbury is a decent commercial place.

Check out Skowhegan,Maine area. There are a few campgrounds along Rt2. We have not stayed at any though because we stay at friend's home when in that area.

Going through NH, you will be at the upper range of White Mountain National Forest - check out http://www.fs.usda.gov/whitemountain and then recreation.gov for the 23 campgrounds within the forest.

Be aware that VT State Parks have no hookups. That being said, most of them are very nice, although not all are big rig friendly. Probably your best bet is to check RV Park Reviews for some up to date information.
