we're bringing our first motorhome from florida in a couple weeks. ready to start the fulltime life. driving back to wisconsin to load up. does anyone have any experience with the following campgrounds? lake pines-outside columbus,georgia, cherokee hill, jackson,missouri, and hickory hollow,utica,ill. we've read their reviews, but we would like some input from others who have been to these parks.thanks

ake pines-outside columbus,georgia, We have stayed here several times. It is about the only choice for Columbus, GA. We were visiting an uncle, retired Major in the US Army. It was always acceptable for us. Not as a destination park, but as a place to stay. Would definitely go back there if we needed to be in the area. Uncle has passed away, but we would use this as an overnight if passing through the area.

Stayed at Hickory Hollow a few times but not recently. It's an OK CG with decent washrooms and a pool. gravel driveway and sites.If you need dinner drive down to the town to Duffy's Tavern. Their Cheese Sticks with a draft beer go together well for a snack.

If you are willing to go another 40 miles north of Columbus, GA, you will find R Shaefer Heard Park which is a COE campground on West Point Lake. It is very nice with 50 amps and water and a dump on the way out.

We stayed at Lake Pines about a year ago. Nice campground. Has everything you need. AND it's a Good Sam campground. Ask for the discount if you're a GS member.

If you try the Corp of Engineer Parks ( we love them), don't forget to get your Senior Discount Card while there. It's $10 for your lifetime and will give you 50% off camping at Corp parks, national parks and forestry parks. Also covers entrance fees or discounts the fees at many parks.

Hickory Hollow is a nice place. We real like it for our stay and close enough to drive to the state park

We use Hickory Hollow as an overnight stop when travelling to Wisconsin or Iowa from mid-Michigan. It is a nice campground for an overnight stop.

You made me go back & look up the rules, used to be (when I got mine)that the COE did NOT sell the cards, but would honor them, but I see that now they do, great, best $10 I ever spent, love the COE CG's, better than many State Parks.
