- There is a campground at White City. It is near the access road to the caverns.
- AtleeExplorer IIBack in 2014, we stayed at the KOA just north of Carlsbad. There was a bit of a drive to the Caverns which are a little south of Carlsbad. Reviews indicated the KOA was much better place to stay than the campground at White City.
That may not be the case now. A lot can change in 5 years. - tragusa3ExplorerI put my thoughts on the White City campground into a video. Personally, I will avoid it in the future at all costs.

Carlsbad Video - BB_TXNomadWe also stayed at the KOA north of Carlsbad (the town). Nice park, but about 30 miles or so from the caverns. Been a few years, but no other RV park in the area had decent reviews. Check rvparkreviews.com. The RV park at White City is convenient but had very poor reviews. I guess it would be ok just the night.
- azdryheatExplorerKOA is the best place to stay there
- bobsallyhExplorer IIIf you are an Elks Lodge member, the Carlsbad Lodge has RV parking.
- bobcouchExplorerHaven't been to Carlsbad in years, but your post brought back a funny memory I thought I'd share.
On the way there about 50 years ago, we kept seeing signs on the highway for "the only campground with shade trees."
I think we drove an extra 20 miles or so to get there, and they did have trees - cottonwood saplings they watered daily. The tallest ones were less than six feet tall.
I don't remember the name of the campground, but had to give them an "A" for their advertising. - Second_ChanceExplorer IIThe past few years the oil and pipeline companies have taken over any and all RV and trailer parks - and the hotels during the week - in the area. It's difficult-to-impossible to get an RV site, even if you're willing to pay the exorbitant prices. Hotel/motel rooms can run $400 - $600 a night during the week, too. The oil companies are willing to pay the price and rent things by the block and month. If you're an Escapee, you can probably get some time at The Ranch north of Carlsbad.

Isn't it amazing that aliens can travel many light years across the galaxy only to crash in the remote desert. Earth must be located on one heck of an intergalactic blind curve.
Looking for nice rv parks close to the caverns we will be coming from a quick stop at Roswell to talk to some aliens... :W
Thx! - gwalterExplorer IIIWe have stayed at Brantley Lake State Park and had water & electric hookups for $14. Not sure if prices have changed since 3 years ago. The KOA just north of there is also good.
