Looking at Pismo sands and/or Morrow dunes for a pre-thanksgiving trip. Never been there or are there other nice ones on the coast. We would prefer to be on/close to the ocean. if we are going 3-400 miles, we want to make sure its decent.
thanks

Pismo Coast Village is a lovely RV park (resortish) Pismo Sands is a nice RV park. Pismo Beach in general has more amenities as a tourist town. Morro Bay is lovely, wonderful bay like beach. Great beach combing. The restaurants and shopping is a bit of a drive, at San Louis Obispo.
If you can get reservations at either you will have a great time.
Happy Trails.

If those two don't work out, consider Morro Bay State Park, some sites with electricity and water; and, farther north at San Simeon State Park near Cambria. San Simeon is dry camping and has two sections. The lower section is an easy walk to the beach.

Never been to Pismo Sands but we spent a couple nights at Morro Dunes recently and liked it. We stayed in one of the loops along Embarcadero and had an awesome view of Morro Rock right out our window. Each loop has a gate to the street, so access to the beach across the road is very convenient. The gates are locked after dark and opened again in the morning. Staff was friendly, store was well-stocked, plenty of restaurants nearby, and my wife gave their shower facilities a thumbs up.
