We will be heading west though Texas. Is there a campground, State Park, COE, or private near El Paso that someone could recommend for a overnight stop? Thanks

We've stayed at the Sunland Casino and Racetrack. I don't know what people are so afraid of. They have a few hookups with water and have security all night for around $6. Easy off & on I 10. Yes, you can see Mexico from there, big deal

Las Cruces KOA great spot easy on off I10. Stayed there 2 years in a row. Well maintained and nice staff, nice view of town from campground.

X4 on Van Horn, and the Van Horn RV Park in particular. Note that this park used to be a KOA, but is now unaffiliated. Still shows up in Garmin and , I believe Allstays as the Van Horn KOA, so don't be confused. It's a good park, but a bit pricey at $36/night, IMHO. There are a couple of other RV parks in Van Horn, including one that I believe is a PA park. But they are a bit rough and close to the busy railroad for my tastes. I agree with a previous poster about Van Horn being just the right distance from El Paso. Leave in the morning, and you conveniently miss the rush hour headed west. We stayed there on our route to Tucson last month, and will be staying there again on our home bound route in March.

One year, a while back, we bumped into Oliver Lee Memorial State Park It was GREAT.

Might just take a look - a little out of the way, but we were coming from the north and it was easy - great spot, with a great Sunset. One of those places you just run across but never forget.

X2 on Las Cruces and Hacienda RV Park. This past summer there was work on the 375 Loop--does anyone know if it is complete?

We stayed at Sunny Acres in Las Cruces. Stayed an extra day day and took a side trip to White Sands National Monument.

I live here and would only stay in las Cruces. The Hacienda is a very nice rv park but coming from El Paso the left turn right off of and after the exit can be hell to make. Sunny Acres RV park a few blocks down valley drive from that same exit is also a very nice park and a little easier to get to. It is owned and operated by 2 very nice couples.

Not much to recommend in town. If you are going north from El Paso there is Oliver Lee State Park about 10 miles south of Alamogordo. East or west of town have already been covered.

Some construction on the west side of town. You can avoid it by taking Loop 375 around the east side to 54 north. If you need fuel you can get off the loop at Montana Ave and go east a half mile to the Wal Mart. They are set up for easy in and out for RVs. Get off 54 at MLK boulevard and take it north about 6 miles then go over the hill on NM 404. You will hit I 10 about 3 miles north of Camping World. There is a NM State Park (Leesburg Dam) at Radium Springs off I-25.

I have stopped in El Paso, at the Forr Bliss military RV park. Don't know if another place to stop in El Paso. Strongly prefer to stop either at Van Horn or Las Cruces.

Franklin Mountains State Park is not an RV camping park.

Another vote for La Hacienda in Las Cruces. Good restaurants and shops in Mesilla.

One thing about the west side of El Paso is Feed Lot after Feed Lot.
Sometimes you get a lot of flies and sometimes the smell is bad.
If you go to the west side of El Paso go to Las Cruses.
The KOA is right off I-10 and is a nice park.

Van Horn KOA is a nice park, we've stayed there in the past. About 45 minutes west of El Paso is Las Cruces NM. Hacienda RV Park is quite nice also. I noticed a park listed in the Trailer Life CG book that is just barely west of EP, in Canutillo. The ratings were good but we haven't stayed there. The west side of EP is much nicer than the east side. There is a park on the east side, probably about 15 to 20 miles from the center of EP that is OK, just not in a very nice part of town.
