CG recommendations near or in Yuma Arizona?

Anybody have any suggestions, positive or negative, about where to stay in or near Yuma?
  • Thanks, everyone for your help. We made reservations at Cocopah RV and Golf Resort. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

We are basically just passing through and want to stay for three nights in a place with full hoop ups and space between sites and a safe feel. An actual resort is OK but not necessary since we don't need golf or a pool or organized activities.

What we don't want is an older park full of permanent residents. We have stayed at some that are OK and others that are scary.

Tier Drop in Wellton is basic with full hookups. One section is permanent residents and another section with short-term spaces. We had no issues at all and everyone was very nice.

  • What else do you want? Lot size matter? Close to stores? parks? What do you mean by basic? Do you want full hook ups? power only? Most RV parks are about $30/night for full service. Cheaper by the month plus you pay power. Quechan Casino is just off I8, close to Los Algodonez, MX. You can boondock in their parking lot or just south of there there is some desert spots. I've stayed at Riverfront RV Park which is okay, full hook-ups, close to lots of stores on Avenue B, next door to walking/cycling paths, the West Wetlands Park, backs onto the Colorado River. A bit dusty when its windy as there is a service road along the canal that farm vehicles use to access the fields west of the RV Park. Cocopah RV Park is a bit out of the way, tucked away in the northwest corner amid farmland, a bit of a drive anywhere. I can help you out with more info if I know more about what you are looking for, how long you are staying, etc
  • Tier Drop RV Park in Wellton is nice too. Stayed there for about a week although didn’t spend much time in the park...just slept there.

I probably should have said that I am interested in basic but good accommodations for a few days.

Both places I mentioned have websites. Check them out, see if they'd work for you. They have some pull through sites reserved for overnighters. Their longer term rates are much better than the daily rate.

  • boondock drycamp along the old hiway ne of the Cuechan casino west of Winterhaven, N. of I 10 Between the all american canal and the railroad.
  • You gotta be kidding. Yuma IS an RV park with a city hall stuck somewhere in the middle. :S:B

Not knowing what you're into, if you're just looking for reasonably priced fhu parks, there are a pair just east of Yuma. Pioneer RV Park is in Wellton about 30 minutes east, and Copper Mountain is in Tacna about 40 minutes east. Basic accommodations, no frills.
