CG US 59 in TX

Looking for an overnight stop between Texarkana and Lufkin.
Looking for a decent campground with 50 amp electric. Want to de-winterize and spend the night.
I found a KOA in Lufkin and that would be an ok distance for us, but wouldn't want to go much further tomorrow.
I just looked on Good Sam/Woodall but searching doesn't seem to be working tonight. No campgrounds in Texas???? According to the app
I have not been real happy with searching on this application. Even after the last update which was supposed to fix the empty searches.
Rant over.....thanks for any help.
  • Tyler has a new park called Tyler Oaks. Huge park with everything you can image. South of Tyler on 69. The park in Carthage mentioned by padrew above is a nice park but have not stayed there.

Anyone stay at the state park at the Rusk railroad lately? I drove through it in late September and the park had barriers and greatly overgrown. Gates were closed and guard house in terrible shape.
  • I may be too late to be of any assistance, but there is a nice RV Park right on US 59 in Carthage, Texas. We have not stayed there since it is too close to home for us to need to stay there, but it looks good from the highway. We have passed by on the highway many, many times.

It is 26 degrees F this morning, but it will warm up this week end.
  • If you want to go just a little farther consider the KOA in Onalaska on Lake Livingston (next big town south of Lufkin). If you want cheap ($20 with water and electric) consider the Cassels Boykin park RV campground just outside Zavala (20 miles south of Lufkin) on Lake Sam Rayburn http://casselsboykinpark.com/
  • " Here you go Texas State Railroad "
Very interesting. Not on our intended route but may swing over that way. Train Ride right now seems like it would be polar express. So that wouldn't be our choice without grands kids along. But maybe a good stop any way. Thanks.
  • We will be there tomorrow the 9th. Lows I saw were just below freezing.
But it is what it is. Better than another hotel room.
  • Note that we (here in Texas) are forecasted to have lowest temps in 17 months tonight. When are you coming? Next week looks warmer.
  • North of there a little, we stayed at The RV Park of Henderson. There are full-hookups and it's clean. Basic but good for a night or two. Good wifi.

I would suggest you use rvparkreviews.com - go to Texas and then on the left you can look by city. A listing will then come up with campgrounds in the area. It has been a big help to us as we travel.
  • Try looking up the KOA in Rusk. Never been there myself but have heard good things about it.
