We stayed at Mountaindale RV which is just down the road (maybe another 10 miles) from Cheyenne SP. Mountaindale and Cheyenne SP were much prettier than any other RV park we drove through in the area.
If you want to do sight-seeing around Colorado Springs (Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, drive out to Cripple Creek, Cliff Dwellings), it's not the greatest location as all of those things are north/west of there. Staying at Cheyenne SP probably adds an extra 20 minutes to your drives. The only thing that you get a leg up on is driving down to Royal Gorge.
