we were in that area for a week last june and did most of the stuff listed by others. we, however, decided to stay at Mueller state park (on 67 south of divide) rather than Cheyenne mtn. Mueller had forest around the sites while Cheyenne was pretty much in the open . it was a little farther to drive to do stuff but we felt that it was worth it.
