If you don't mind forest service and no services other than dump stations, check out White Star. Beautiful scenery, at the base of independence pass. 30 mins to Leadvile, 30 mins to Buena Vista. Aspens on the other side of Independance pass( I don't care about Aspen but the drive is beautiful.)
