Cibola National Forest, NM

There are tons of campgrounds in the national forest. I am looking for one that is closest to Albuquerque Can anyone steer me in the right direction>
  • For a quick visit, check Black Mesa Casino. Cheap but little atmosphere.

Closer is Coronado State Park in Bernalillo. Nice, clean, views starting at $14/night wo/hookups.

    Nearest forest campgrounds already mentioned.

If you have military benefits, Kirkland AFB has some nice fam-camp sites.
  • Do you have to be in a national forest? If not, the Corps of Engineers cg at Cochiti Lake has hookups and is far enough from I-25 that there is no traffic noise. It is also about midway between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, so can be a base for visiting both cities. With our senior pass, we pay $11/night there for a paved, pull-thru, W/E site.
  • Probaby Cedro Peak Campground which is like east of the city near Tijeras. Others are Fourth of July and Tajique.
