Class A resorts

No debates, no flaming, no nastiness, please...

I want to understand why Class A only resorts exist. I understand why RV resorts might implement a restriction on the age of an RV, or why they may restrict to hard-sided RVs (no tents or expandables with tent ends). Can someone explain why Class A only, please?

Thank you in advance for being civil ๐Ÿ™‚

It's already been stated by others but Class A only resorts exist because there is consumer demand and the resort owner fill a (profitable) nitch.

To me a "Class A only" resort appeals to the same type of folks who like living in a gated community. We should celebrate our differences and not question "why"...

It's a business decision. Do you see it as anything else but?

Simply: It is the owners choice to focus upon a segment of the market instead of trying to be everything for everybody.

I did the same in my business. I did not offer every service, but what we did offer, we did very well.

Just business.

Everytime I see RESORTS I am thinking it has permanent residents staying there...

Everyone I have stayed at however doesn't really have anything different then the majority of the other camp grounds we visit. Maybe the view is more spectacular at the RESORTS.. maybe the BATHHOUSE is more modern at a RESORT place?? We go to the Riveredge RESORT in Pigeon Forge alot and their bathhouse is a five star PLUS PLUS haha...

Makes one think the owners declare it a RESORT just to be able to charge a bigger fee...

We enjoy ourselves everywhere we go so it really doesn't mean anything to us if it is called a PARK or a RESORT... If they don't allow a firepit then we usually move on rather quick.

Its quite simple. Thats the way the owner wants it.

I will take a stab at it. I will start by saying that we do not endorse having an exclusive Class A Resort. In all of our camping we have only stayed at two and one of those still allowed people in with other type units. I believe that they are trying to create an image for a select group of people. By doing this they feel they can charge more for their lots as most of them actually sell the sites. There are a lot of people that like to buy in an exclusive park as they purchase it as their home base and they are looking for that type place to call home. One has to understand that there is something out there for everyone. There are places where one can only tent camp and I have no problem with that. I would not like to be enjoying the wilderness in a tent and have an RV park by me and run a generator.
