Closed Please Review Rules - Overnighting at Walmart

Very soon we will pull our 5er from Houston, TX to Carrabelle, FL in two days. We are hoping to travel long hours and spend the night in Wallmart parking lots. We have heard of people spending nights in Wallmart parking lots, although we have not done it yet. We are researching, and cannot find a Wallmart that will allow us to spend the night in their parking lot. We will be travelling on Interstate 10. Have any of you travelled on I-10 and spent the night in Wallmarts? Are there other places to park for a night? Any other suggestions are welcome.

  • WE have stayed at Walmart a number of times in the past, also at a SAMS, and at another big box, which as we found out, did not stay open 24 hours. Mostly uneventful, except for the one maintenance that decided three oclock in the morning was a good time to clean and vacuum the entire lot, with attention to the area where we were. I all these cases, the price of a campground was no object, and would have been preferred, there were just none available. So, just finding a place to stop was the only option. So Yes, an RV park is the best option, but many times it is not available, so you just have to do the best you can.
  • An actual RV park is always an option, but that will cost you some money.
  • Other options would be truck stops line Pilot, Flying J and Loves. You can also park at Cabellas and some Cracker Barrels. Have stayed at all the above for a short overnight.
