Advice needed please.
We have been travelling Mexico for many years but this year we have to make some decisions regarding communication.
We are moving from a location with no cell phone signal to a place where we can only have cell phone. We will only be in Canada for the summer months. What is the most economical way to provide ourselves with cell phone service and internet on a 6 month basis?

we have Cell Service in Canada (MTS Allstream) on a 3 year contract. When we go South for the winter we suspend the service for the length of time we are away. It does mean they extend the contract to cover the suspended months but works for us. We have a tracfone while in the US. We subscribe to local internet while in the south and keep our Canadian internet service on while away because of our security system. We also suspend our land line while away.

Ah Robatthelake You know me well. Try Antiquary. Not $10 but under $20 and not single but a very good blend. I found it in Mexico after looking for it for years in Canada.
I don't know my neighbours well enough yet but the library is just up the road within walking distance. That will do for now. I have been told Virgin does not get service in Salmo where we are moving to next week. Thank you both at least I have a direction and you have a great bottle of Scotch to seek out.

I have Virgin mobile service here in Ontario. I had my own small phone, so the service, with no contract, can be cancelled anytime. Its just for emergencies, but does have about 100 minutes per month. with tax, about 29.00 per month. I signed up for it at The source. We have limited service at our house outside Shelburne, but had great service bars in Bancroft, which I would not have thought we would. Check them out, it was better than Bell for us(and way cheaper) . Dona

There is no such thing as an economical internet or Telephone service anywhere in Canada!

You may as well try to find some Single Malt Scotch at Ten Bucks a Bottle!

The Best bet is to piggyback off someone You knows Shaw or Rogers account for Internet and get a pay as You go Cel Phone!

Hope that You are enjoying Your New Digs!

I guess what I am looking for is an economical way to have internet and cell phone service in Canada for 6 months. We have just moved from N Ontario where there is no cell phone and where I used my neighbours internet. I have no clue what plans are available for 6 months and just wondered what was available.
In Mexico we park permanently at Chimulco where the internet service is really good.
thanks

Your Canadian, It would help, if we knew what country you are looking for service, Canada, USA or Mexico. When we are also from Ontario. When travelling in Canada we use our Rogers I-phone for cell and tethered internet. In the US, we get a Trac phone from Walmart for cell service and have a T-Mobile hot spot for internet when campground, McDonalds etc, wifi does not suffice.
