You may want to consider going to the southern region, in Tuscarawas County. There is camping near Zoar (Muskingum Watershed District www.mwcd.org/). The further north you go, there aren't too many close campgrounds. Chances are you'll need to put the bikes on your bike carrier and drive to your starting point. Peninsula, Oh has a nice setup in town for bicyclists FYI. The towpath north from Rockside Rd. near Independence to downtown Cleveland is interesting, as it winds through old industrial areas.
