If I am going to fort wilderness with a 35 foot fifth wheel what kind of site do you recommend a full hookup, preferred, or premium

We stayed in 1400 last year and had a pretty easy site to get into as we were in the cul-de-sac as you come into the loop. However, I think the rest of the loop was pretty tight for larger campers.

We like the premium. What other loops are recommended that seem to have the easiest sites. I think I liked the 600 or 900 loop that had the sunny sites next to the main road. I hate have tons of tree canopy over my site. Too dark and not what I want in April.

We prefer the full sites (1600-1800) for price and lower noise as they are, in general, further from traffic. 1900 is quiet, but is a tight loop, so are 300(preferred) and 1400(premium). The site categories are based on location and amount of pavement, not the size of the site. Some of the premium sites have difficult approaches. One site can have an easy approach and two doors down will be difficult.

It is better to have either bikes or a golf cart to get around than use the buses, although they do well. If on foot, then premiums are more centrally located, but there are two main activity areas so there will be distances to cover from any site.

42' fifth wheel here. I've stayed in Preferred and Premium sites. I've had friends in equal sized rigs in the Full Hookup sites.

Generally, I like the Premium for the site size, bigger picnic table, and (usually) more privacy between sites.

We too have Florida resident annual passes to WDW. Most years we spend between 35 and 40 nights at the Fort. That works out to 8 or 10 trips a year with the RV. The last three trips, I haven't gone to any of the parks. My wife and young grandsons go to one of the parks about every day. If the boys parents are with us, they too will hit the parks. I find the peace and quiet of the campground to be enjoyable. We usually have our granddog, Rookie beagle dog, with us so he too enjoys the walks around the campground. Some days the boys will spend half a day at the swimming pool at the campground and the other half at one of the parks.
While the Fort is a bit pricey, it isn't all that much more than many of the other Florida campgrounds, especially in south Florida and the Keys. The Fort is what we use to compair all other campgrounds with as we travel. The Fort is the best run, maintained and clean CG where we have ever stayed. When we had a 5th wheel we found the 100, 200 and 300 loops to be very tight, not always the sites but the roads were way too narrow to be able to back in to some.

I agree with Texas Roadrunner - Any site will be plenty spacious but I would consider the convenient location of the Premium sites. As most of the others have posted we spend the vast majority of our time at the parks. The Premium sites save a lot of time getting to the park transportation and stores.

We have a 37 ft fifth wheel, before that a 36 ft fifth wheel and before that a 30 ft. travel trailer. We have always stayed in loop 1 or 2 right by the landing. It is so convenient and easy to walk to the beach at night to watch the parade on the lake and the fireworks. The convenience is worth the premium site.

We stayed in the 400 loop when we were there over Halloween 3 years ago. It was very convenient. You could walk to the landing,the dog park and the pool from there.

We've stayed on all types. There are Full Hook-up sites that are larger than Premium sites and vice versa. Now that all sites have Cable, the main differences are the amount of sand at the site. Full Hook-up sites have the most sand. Preferred a little less while the Premium sites have the least amount of sand. The Premium sites have nicer picnic tables and nicer grills. All the premium sites are nice, but there are some that are not all that spacious.

The 1400 loop is one of our favorites. It's a far enough walk to everything that its exercise, but not too far from everything that it is too far too walk. We like to walk to the Wilderness Lodge from the Fort.

The first time we stayed at the Fort we were in the 1400 loop. I wish I could remember the site number (it was some where in the 1430s). Backing our 23' HTT was a bit of a struggle because the site was in the middle of the bend and a tree and trash can were just in the right spot, plus it was dark when we arrived. We've been in several other sites in the 1400 loop without a problem in the HTT and our 32' Motorhome.

There is no bad site at the fort.

With our 21 foot trailer we found the "basic" full hookup sites to be plenty roomy.

What size and type of camper are you going to be using?

We always get a premium site for our 30ft TT. DW hates getting sand in the TT so she likes the all concrete sites. We are season pass holders and go a few times a year, we just go to the parks and do what we want then leave. There is lots to do at the Fort and sometimes we just relax at our site. Prices depend on when you go, we go every 4th of July so it is more expensive. When the kids are out of school and around holidays you can expect to pay more. Going around Halloween and Christmas and 4th of July is always a treat as many of the campers decorate their sites and RVs for thr holiday. Enjoy!

Premium would be the best, also the most expensive, but its Disney and to us, worth it. They are generally the biggest, most paved area on each site. Next choice (for a 35' trailer would be the Full hookup sites, further away from some of the amenities but generally fairly large sites.
Our my choice would be the Preferred loops, closest to boat docks, but they are generally smaller sites. One time we felt a little crowed with a 19' HTT and van, Just able to get the 30'MH on it along with the car, another site we've had was huge. Some of h
the sites in the preferred loops (especially inside sites) could be a challenge to get in.
If you can't site in the loop you request, take whatever you can get, after you get parked and start enjoying Disney (even Fort Wilderness Campground), you will enjoy it.

Great advice from zb39. If you can afford it, get the Premium. Big, spacious sites. We too spend the majority of time in the parks but its Disney: go big or go home.
