DisneyLand Hotel to stay at near park or ?

As I previously posted, that Fairfield Inn is just about perfect for a Disneyland trip. Close, clean, affordable, and plenty of parking. However I really wish there was a Disney operated Fort Wilderness type CG in California.

We ended staying at the Marriott Fairfield Inn right across the street from the Disneyland main gate. Rented a electric scooter through the hotel and really enjoyed touring Disneyland even though I tore my minis us a few weeks ago. I have nothing but good things to say about the Marriott folks and the friendly and helpful staff at DW.

We have been fortunate enough to stay in the Disneyland Hotel and Disneyland Paradise Pier Hotel on our last three trips to Disneyland. It is great to be able to walk a very short distance from the hotel to either park.

Disneyland Hotel if the price isn't a deal breaker. We stayed there with the six year old GS last year and how I wish we could afforded it when we we younger with our kids.

We typically stay at the Fairfield Inn directly across the street from the parks. It is a 3-5 min walk to the park and we are always able to get a good rate. The Residence Inn Maingate is another good option. Also we like the "suite" style rooms at the Residence Inn and they have a great breakfast included in the rate. However the walk is a little further, maybe 10 min.

Have stayed at the HoJo, Carousel Inn & Suites and Sheraton Park Hotel too. Wouldn't go back to the Carousel or HoJo, although location is great, the places didn't suite us. Carousel's Parking was tight and both places were very noisy. The Sheraton is a great hotel, but I felt that we were paying for amenities we didn't use since our focus was spending time at the park and parking was extra and expensive if I recall.

I always think it is better Not to grow up !!!! :=))

Better to enjoy everything and view it in a positive way like a child !!!

wish we could stay longer but... no can do this time. Maybe next time....

Disneyland/California Adventure is more than a 1 or 2 day excursion. If you really want to see both parks fully, (and without meltdowns) you will want accomodations close enough to go back to and rest in the middle of the day. The hotels along Katella and on the East side of Harbor can be spotty, But the Quality Inn on Manchester is not bad. I think they may have a shuttle to the main gate of the parks too. If you drive and park, count on it taking 30-40 minutes to get from your car to the main gate, and same getting from the park back to the Mickey parking structure. Its' quite a hike even with the tram. The Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier, and Grand Californian are great Hotels - if you are a gazillionaire... and of course you can walk right into the parks from the Grand californian. If you use google maps and enter "hotels" after finding the park location, you will see all of the various accomodations around the park.

Things NOT to be missed: World of Color (water show)and Soarin' Over California (ride) at Calif Adv. and Fantasmic (light show) at Disneyland. Of course the fireworks every night at 9:40 PM are spectacular always. If you get the opportunity to dine at Napa Rose in the Grand Californian it is a wonderful restaurant, and inside Disneyland the Blue Bayou is also wonderful. If you have little ones along, Goofys kitchen or the Plaza Inn has character breakfast buffets where the characters come out and play with the children and sign autographs. You can call ahead and make reservations and you should. Planning is really the key to a great vacation at Disneyland! I know all this because I grew up in Anaheim and worked at the park as a singer for 14 years off and on. Maybe I'm nuts but it never gets old to me!

We have stayed at Candy Cane 2 or 3 times. They offer a free breakfast & have their own dedicated air-conditioned shuttle bus. Last time, we stayed at Fiarfield Inn in a Disney view room. It is an easy walk and close to Mimi's (not Millie's) restaurant for a good, reasonable meal. No shuttle, and not one needed. The Fairfield rooms were larger. Our K had a couch & coffee table also. CCI had smaller rooms with double queen beds, 2 chairs & a small table. You can't go wrong with either. Beds were comfortable in both. Enjoy Disneyland! We do...

If you go to Disneyland.com at the bottom of the opening page they have a link to "good neighbor hotels". It lists and gives links to most of the large and small hotels within walking and shuttle distance to the park.
