Hi,
We are considering becoming snowbirds. We like to hike, cycle, and fish.
I am a nature photographer and a wood turner. I can do my photography thing just about anywhere. The fishing......would be nice but lower on the list.
But I would like to be able to do some wood turning during the winter months.
Are there any RV parks in the warmer climes that have a woodworking shop available to the guest?
Thanks in advance for any insights. 🙂

Sun N Fun, Sarasota, FL. You're not going to find a park with more winter activities.

Good wood shop. Lathe (about 6 large and 2 small) time is limited to 2 hours per day on a sign up basis (dozens of turners).

Fishing; Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico keeps my freezer full all winter. Although not typical stream fishing there are many ways to fly fish the bay.

Ancient Oaks in Rockport TX has a woodworking shop though I have not been in it. I can show you where the good fishing is. Lot's of activities, hot tub and pool, dog park and friendly people. Rockport has many excellent places to eat and is close to Corpus Christi and it's attractions. And very reasonable price. Make reservation soon..

Before wintering in Texas, I spent the winter in Florida. Snowbird (Winter Texan) RV parks in both states are very different. Texas has very large, large, medium and small parks. The very large and large ones have many different things for the residents. In Florida I found no very large RV Parks. The idea behind things to do seemed to center on what the state and local areas offered, NOT what was in the park.

I posted about Texas because everything you asked about is available in Fun n Sun and others in Texas. The other defining reason for me is I find the RGV some much friendlier and less expensive than what I have experienced in Florida

Wow, I had no idea!

Community colleges, universities, and senior centers often have woodshops that are available to the public for a nominal fee. So, if you are ok with it not being actually in the rv park, that would broaden your options.

Of course, woodshops anywhere are going to vary in quality, and you might have to check them out in person.

All the Cal Am resorts in the East valley of Phoenix have what you want. We personally like Canyon Vistas, as it is not in the middle of a metro area. Chris

Look around Apache Junction, AZ. Then when you need a break from woodworking take the Apache Trail for some good fishing and photography in an absolute gorgeous area.

Val Vista Villages in Mesa (a Cal-Am park) just put in a huge new woodshop. I can't imagine anyone would want for anything in that shop, you name it, it's there.
