Estes Park

I've been researching the area for a couple days now, i know of a few places there, but it seems like most get 3 star reviews, which isn't much of a bother, however i've been having horrible luck getting these place to respond to my online inquiries.

I wanted Paradise River which was quickly shot down, with a semi rude email, and still not sure if they were booked, if my equipment length, young child, or dog was our demise.

Anyhow, I'm looking for 8-2-14 arrival and an 8-9-14 departure (perhaps not enough lead time).

Anyone have any good suggestions for campgrounds around the area? Maybe Estes wont be able to be our destination.

We have a 7 month old, so from Omaha we will take 3 days to get into the rockies, 3 days home, just taking our time, and then obviously do a 7 night stay as mentioned.

Don't have specific plans, only to get away, see some sights, camp in the mountains, do some shopping, eating, drinking, etc. Of course it's an opportunity to do my favorite thing, get on the road and really stretch my trucks legs.....:C

Hoping you pros have some good info for me. Thanks again.

Never mind...had posted a response, but re-read your post right above and you've already picked a place.

We opted to try Manor RV Park. Not sure how crazy about any of the places i am either. We were doing the Rushmore thing last summer, and stayed at Rafter J. Had a great spot, ample room, tree cover, guess i was expecting there to be a lot of that in the Estes area. Quite the opposite if you want electricity and all the goods.

We'll make the best of it, 7 nights may be a little long. Maybe we can find something a bit more secluded in a different part of CO if we burn out on Estes.

Add another Texan who stays at Spruce Lake. None of the RV parks in Estes Park, including Spruce Lake, are among our favorites. They are simply in the right location. They know it and do not make much effort to attract customers. The Rocky Mountains do that for them. There are many RV parks that are far better than any in Estes Park, but that's it: they are not in Estes Park.

Short story: we would probably go back to Spruce Lake.

I agree with minn camping family, this is a busy holiday week and emails may not be a priority over the guests standing in front of them. I would phone them especially since you are this close to your desired time.

Just my opinion but during this busy time of year and since you aren't planning that far ahead, I'd call them instead of emailing places.

Back when we were planning we seriously considered Elk Meadow Resort and have heard good things about the place. There is also a KOA there that some reviewers really like. Can you get by without hookups? There are campgrounds within Rocky Mountain National Park....

i'd love to go without hookups, not with a baby, and the creature comforts will make the wife happier.
