- hedgehopperExplorerA couple weeks ago I called the Forest Service and asked when the colors were likely to peak at Kenosha Pass. The lady suggested the end of September or the beginning of October. My wife and I decided on the first weekend in October. In the meantime, as you know, the government shut down. Since access to the trail we wanted to hike is through Forest Service land, we decided not to drive there. Instead we hiked in a county park not as far into the high country. Most of the leaves had not yet turned. Nevertheless, the weather was beautiful and we had a pleasant afternoon.
