Fall colors

I feel the same, living in Fl. the last 30 years makes me grateful for any color. We were in Helen Ga about 6 yrs ago and went to Brasstown Bald, the colors were amazing. I'm looking forward to going somewhere different this time.

We stayed at Riverbend in Hiawassee last October and can highly recommend it. We used to have a house in Rabun Gap near Dillard. That is a nice area, also. We've stayed at River Vista RV in Dillard, I can highly recommend that one, too. You'll be surrounded by mountains and color. The trick is choosing the right timing. We've always gone the last week of October and had brilliant, fabulous color, and we've also had dull, lifeless color that was almost gone. But, we're from FL, so any color is a treat for us.

Amicola Falls SP and hike the approach trail to the top of Springer Mtn where the Appilachsin Trail starts.

Just looked at Riverbend's website, they have a photo gallery with fall colors. Wow, does that area look nice. Hiawasse has been on my bucket list but I think it has now become #1 on my places to go in the fall, but still looking.

I will second River Bend in Hiawassee. Hiawassee is close to many places you can drive and visit. Helen, Brasstown Bald and state parks you can walk through.

River Bend is in a valley with mountains all around. They have full hooks ups and cable TV. The owners are very friendly and we have camped there many times.

I'll add in Fort Mountain SP. And the CoE's on Carters Lake, Woodring Branch & Doll Mountain.

Since I live in N GA I can recommend, Vogel SP, River Bend CG in Hiawassee, GA. Unicoi SP in Cleveland, GA. Both Amicola SP and Black MTn have very steep pulls to the CG.

If you want to be on a lake then Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee.
Just make your reservations early as they all fill up.

bukhrn - The road intp the LOOKOUT MTN from Trenton does have a couple of loop backs that look worse then they are I think haha... I don't have any problems with my setup and do see a few bigger MH come through ok...

I guess you can access the LOOKOUT MTN main road on top with other entrance points but have only been into it via Trenton and also have came into it a couple of times from the DESOTO State Park ALA which is about 25 miles South down the Lookout Mtn road. I think the road from Fort Payne to the top Lookout Mtn road may even be an easier road to drive getting up on top but alot longer trip then just taking the Trenton GA exit of the Interstate???... Look at the road using GOOGLE SAT VIEW MAPS and see what you think...

I do know the East side of the LOOKOUT MTN from I75/US27 has a road into this area as well but have never gone down it...

We have been going to CLOUDLAND Canyon since the 2009 era... Plenty of groceries at a local grocery store just outside the entrance to the park and Tenton. SIte also has a park store pretty well stocked as well... Lots of trails... It kinda neat to look out to the East from the rocks on one RIM and see folks camping on the east Rim quite a ways off haha...
