- fuzzbuttExplorerHopefully this doesn't sound too snarky. It's not meant to be. I dont understand the fascination with the golf carts. I can see why bored teenagers do it but I don't see why the adults spend so much time just riding around with their little dog on their lap. It seems to be at almost every campground. Personally, thats why I like MBTP. There is a lot less of it there. To each his own I guess.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIWe`ll be at Pirate Land July 6th! can`t wait to go. we have an end site right on the "main drag"! I want to be one of the annoying people!!!! :B

I can only comment about Pirate land which we did NOT like. The pool was extremely over crowded and just a big rectangle (no slide or anything to do) The lazy river was OK and the kids (8 and 11) were bored after about an 1 hour. We had a site 6 spots from the water, nice to be close to the beach, but very tight (but we knew that before we arrived).. Honestly no one (employees) were friendly. Too much going on I guess being the second week in July.
The golf cart parade every night on the main drag along the beach was incredibly annoying and dangerous for all (spectators and drivers) The entire 4 days were just too hectic and crazy in that campground for us. Maybe they are all the same in July..
Finally someone who sees Pirateland, specifically the golf cart "parade", like I do. Won't be back. MBTP for me, thanks. - zackyboy3rsExplorerKid friendly? Daddy Joes in Tabor City Nc. Hidden gem. Jellystone themed. 30-40 minutes from north Myrtle beach area.
- CampingN_C_ExplorerWhen we were younger and before kids we liked Ocean Lakes but now we stay at MBTP, and have for years. No golf cart infestation like the others. Yes, there's less to do, but that's not always a negative!
Believe it or not, it's not that difficult to find a spot last minute, especially as it gets closer to your dates. People cancel all the time. When we stayed at OL we hardly ever had reservations way ahead of time, just keep calling, daily. - OaklevelExplorerIt may come down at this late date as to who has space. Or you may get lucky & someone might cancel. We made our July reservations to Ocean Lakes last July. Nearly 900 campsites there alone & hard to get July space now unless you want to change sites during the week.
- fuzzbuttExplorerHere is my 2 cents worth. We have stayed at Lakewood, Pirateland and MBTP. We like them all. MBTP is my favorite.
On this short notice, I think you will have to take anything you can get. - modern_familyExplorerI can only comment about Pirate land which we did NOT like. This year they are orange and white bands.
- love2rvcampExplorerYou might check at Willow Tree Rv Resort. It is up near Cherry Grove ( North Myrtle Beach). It is about 15 minutes from the ocean. The resort has a 40 acre lake with a sandy beach with water inflatable toys for the kids to,play on. There is a pool with a hot tub. There are paddle boats, basketball and volley ball.
I called about a week ago and got a spot in July. My kids love the park and the beach and you are a short drive to all the Myrtle Beach stuff and the ocean. Best of both worlds.
