Fishing Bridge to re-open this fall

Some of the pressure for RV overnighting at Wyomingโ€™s Yellowstone National Park may ease up come this September. Fishing Bridge RV Park has been closed since 2019 for a major renovation project. The National Park Service says reservations are now available for dates beginning September 4. Guests on the Upper Loop will find larger sites, most of them pull-throughs, with 35- and 50-amp electrical service. A dump station is included, and the number of washers and dryers in the laundromat has been bumped up.

Darn. Few weeks too late for me. Maybe next time.

On the one hand I choke on the idea of $79/night.

On the other hand, how much is it worth to save 1.5hr each way getting to and from cheaper places outside the park...particularly if you have limited time on your trip.

Plus 3hr extra driving is likely 10gal of gas...that can easily eat up $25-30 per day depending on gas prices.

No Kidding $79/night. I'm scratching that off our list. Fortunately I've located excellent boondocking sites right outside the gates

I'll gladly pay that rate to stay inside the park and central to everything! Heck I've paid up to $150 a night at some places (not NP's).

Well worth the price due to the location - and lets face it only full hookups in the park

Pretty much same price as West Yellowstone RV parks plus great location.
The National Park Service must approve any rates charged by concessionaires. Part of the criteria they must follow is that the rates must be comparable to the rates private businesses charge in the same area. Hence, lodging and RV rates inside the National Parks are similar to the rates charged in the Gateway towns near those parks. From an RV'ers point of view, be thankful the rate is comparable to West Yellowstone rather than Jackson, Wyoming where $100+ a night is the norm.
