The state parks are really nice......but, hard to get into!
Do to the above, this time we are staying at Jolly Roger ( next week). It has good reviews and a poster from here recommends it. If you can wait a week, I will post my thoughts on the place.
Again, I prefer SPs but this place looks nice.
My review may be through several mixed drinks though....LOL.
We have been to both Jolly Roger and Key Largo Kampground and like Key Largo better.
Jolly Roger is on Florida Bay, and Key Largo the Atlantic

I hope you don't mind me asking, why do you prefer Key Largo?

John Pennekamp and Bahia Honda state parks have free boat dockage (limited number of spaces) for campers, along with good ramps.
Key Largo campground has some really shallow areas you have to go through, before getting to deeper water.
Not true
There is channel all the way out, unless you have the Queen Mary
The channel is clearly marked with red and green markers.
We just came from there.
Off to the right of the channel as you are heading out there is a shallow area and off limits to motorized craft
