Flying a non-USA flag alone in the US. Disrespecful?

I've noticed that several snowbirds will fly their home country's flag without the hosting country flag alongside. I've always been taught that this was disrespectful to the hosting country. I'm guessing if you're a veteran, or have lost loved ones in a war that this would be especially hard to see.

What's your opinion? disrespectful or no big deal.

So - you are telling us that if we go to Mexico we need to buy a Mexican flag and fly it there.

If we go to Canada, we need to buy and fly the Maple Leaf flag?

Actually that is exactly what I am saying. Unless you're on sovereign soil (i.e. a US embassy, or over in France in our US graveyard, thank you France for giving up part of your country for our WWII vets) that is exactly what you should do.

Has nothing to do with not loving your country or not being proud of it. Flying a tattered flag, not lighting a flag at night, flying a flag upside down, or throwing a flag into the garbage, now that is saying something else.
Thereโ€™s no fool, like an old fool.

In the USA I fly 3 flags - USA in the middle with CDN and Union Jack on the sides.

What _I_ find disrespectful is the Fleur-de-Lis. That should NEVER be flown outside Quebec.

??? why should the Fleur-de-Lis not be flown outside of Quebec?
Because it is a separatist statement and that is disrespectful to Canada. In Canada we have to put up with it but we shouldn't be exporting our political BS outside our borders.

Quebec is a province just like the other 9 provinces. So you're a mind reader and are able to determine someone's reason for flying their provincial flag? It's this kind of attitude that causes discord in our country.

I too am a proud Canadian and I see no reason to fly my home province's flag, I instead fly the good ole' maple leaf as a MEMBER of my COUNTRY not as a member of a SEPERATE PROVINCE, oh and by the way there are ten provinces in Canada-

Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia,New Brunswick, Manitoba, British Columbia,Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Newfoundland and Labrador

All in all I think this whole flag topic can be filed in the people with too much to worry about folder!!

If you go back and look at my post you will see it reads "Quebec is a province just like the other 9 provinces" Nine + one = ten!

Unfortunately it is not a flag of history.

It has been allowed to become a symbol of the very worst abuses of our Constitution, of hate and violations of the basic rights of millions of Americans.

Today the confederate battle flag represents terrorism and people who support the goal of destroying this nation.

It is no more a symbol of an honorable history than the Nazi flag.

I believe proper flag etiquette is that there should be no flags to the right of the US Flag, or none above the US Flag (i.e. state flags are lower and to the left of US Flag or below if on same pole).

If US Flag isn't displayed then disregard the above.

I see you live in Ottawa, so I guess it is no surprise that you have such a crappy attitude. Respect for anyone or any country is not something that anyone in Ottawa is blessed with.

Brilliant! Tar and feather everyone in a Major Metropolitan City with the same brush...not too hard to see your comments hold no weight!

I am Vet and fly the US flag at home and while camping. Only time I camped outside the country it was with Uncle Sam, and yes we did fly a US flag. I also had a US flag up while stationed overseas.

I see flags all the time that I find offensive to me, but you know what, I don't loose sleep over it.

If you are visiting this fine nation and want to fly the flag of your home, go ahead fly it. Enjoy your vist and spend lots of money here.

On the other hand if you are flying an ARMY flag during the ARMY/NAVY game we may have words. ๐Ÿ™‚

You are sure helping your Canadian brethren with an attitude like that. YOUR Vets fought for the flag to be flown in Canada, just like our Vets fought for OURS to be flown in the US. You don't like it, take your flag and find another country to fly it in.....An American VET that does NOT like your attitude.

The flag you are talking about is not in fact the Confederate States Flag. It is the Confederate Battle Flag. So designed so that the Yankees would understand the Southern Boys were not surrendering. The Confederate Flag is actually white, with the Stars, and Bars in the upper corner.

IMOP. IF a person is proud of their heritage, and are saluting the fallen Southern soldiers. The Confederate States Flag is what they should be flying.

If you would go to the Southern Forts. You should not see the Battle Flag. But instead the Confederate States Flag. As the battles are over, But that the boys that dies there, Died under that Flag.
