- rwessExplorerLove it, make sure you go into Fernandina Beach for shopping, eating and drinking.

- DownTheAvenueExplorerAs I remember there are two camping sections, one close to the ocean without any shade, and the other back in the hammock with some shade. Remember, the sun this time of year, even in North Florida, can be brutal. Choose wisely.

The cg away from the beach is back in the trees and IIRC the spaces can be a bit tight. The beach cg will be hot during the day but on the other hand that is price for beach camping in the south.
Every time I check this park on the reservation system it is booked up, so I hope you have reservations. It is a very good and popular park. - Dutch_12078Explorer IIWe stayed on a beach side site at Ft Clinch this past January and loved it. We elected to leave a day early though, to avoid some serious storms that were forecast for northern FL on what would have been our travel day, but to make up for it, we already have a reservation for a longer stay next January. And on a site with a better ocean view as well... ;)
- Rangerman40ExplorerI've stayed back in the back campground along the Amelia river. The Live Oaks are huge, and I wouldn't want to drive a 13'+ fifth wheel back there. Lots of low branches. On the flip side the beach has no shade.
- dakasa47ExplorerWe have stayed at Fort Clinch on the beach side on past trips. I tried to get reservations for this past January but was never able to. Its a beautiful Florida State Park. But of course we are very partial to the Florida State Parks as they are.....I think anyway.....the best of the best when it comes to campground anywhere..
- rwessExplorerAlso, if you are lucky, you might see a submarine going in or out into King's Bay. That is a sight to behold for an old sailor. Also love the Fort.
- Retired_JSOExplorerYou will hate it. Be sure to tell all your friends you hated it. You will probably find you have to be first in line on the 11 month reservation window.
- kiloxrayfoxtrotExplorerCan't wait to go back we stayed in the back on the river in a 30 foot TT and would be there this year but we couldn't get reservations for the week we needed.
