Just wanted to follow up with y'all. We tried NOT using the trolley and using the trolley.
First, if you're going into Dollywood and have the gold season pass, take your RV. You can park in section B while the rest of the universe is being forced to park at Splash Country. It was great and it gives you a place to take a break when you get "Dollyed" out. However, if you don't want to unhook there are MANY trolleys that drop you right off at the entrance to Dollywood.
We did drive around with our Class C to Wallyworld, Olive Garden, Coleman outlet, Kroger's and a few other places and other than sitting in traffic it wasn't too bad. However we tried to go to a couple of restaurants on the south parkway and there was absolutely NO place to park the rig and we gave up.
So we gave the south parkway trolley a try. It picked us up right at the Pine Mountain resort. It takes quite awhile to get to the "hub" at Patriot Park because there are a lot of stops. The return trip was 5 minutes. The pottery restaurant is at the park along with the Old Mill. Both are good, BTW. We got off and took the trolley to the Gatlinburg welcome station. A short easy ride. We did notice, as mentioned before, that there was PLENTY of big rig parking at the welcome center, so driving and parking the Class C would not have been an issue. Got off and took the purple Gatlinburg trolley to the aquarium. Long wait in traffic otherwise it would have been a short ride.
Very, very easy to get trolleys for the return trip.
So, in conclusion, I would say I'm very impressed with the trolley system and I would recommend it if you don't have a car and are not going to Dollywood.
Thanks again everyone for the suggestions! Us Yankees do like that area a lot and always have a good time when we visit.
