Georgia veterans state park at Cordele Ga, yes it is a great park. Good fishing too.

Agree with High Falls and Georgia Veterans. High Falls has 2 campgrounds. The campground by the river is much better with bigger sites.

Gunter Hill is nice. Another three hours south in Spanish Fort AL is Meaher SP. Meaher is on Mobile bay. 54 full hook up sites. Convenient to Mobile etc. Gulf SP in Gulf Shores is our favorite. About 500 sites. But not packed in like sardines. My advice if you go to Gulf SP, DO NOT camp on the main drag. Other than that, excellent park.

Further south but Gunter Hill near Montgomery, is a favorite with us.

Desoto is a favorite of mine. I’m an (almost) full timer. I’ve hiked park trails all over the country. Desoto has one the best systems of hiking trails I’ve encountered.

Georgia State Parks are mostly open all year. So use the link posted above, lots of choices. DeSoto State Park over near Mentone AL is also within your 100 miles. DeSoto also has WES sites.

Try Gulf Shores State Park In Gulf Shores Al. Lot of good seafood. Real nice state park.

There are COE parks on West Point Lake on the AL/GA line, They have 5-6 campgrounds on the lake, and one or two are open year round.

FDR State Park in Pine Mountain GA is a nice park, some good hiking, and Pine Mountain and Warm Springs are nice little towns to visit.

Both are off of I-85 south of ATL, and would be about the 100 mile mark from Kennesaw. I'm about 30 min south of the airport, and I can be at either in 30-45 min.

Magnolia Branch Wildlife Reserve on Creek Tribal land near Atmore, AL and close to I65.

I'm with you on the the state parks preference. Just about any Georgia or Alabama State Park will be good. Here are the maps of the state parks in both states so you can choose one that is along the route you take. Just click on any name and it will bring up info about the park.
