Glacier National Park

Business brings us from SE PA to Salem OR in July, after that we have reserved three days outside of west Glacier. Its been 30 years since I've been there, my wife has never seen it. My plan is to explore northern Montana and then start to drop down to T.R. National Park and Medora, ND. We have been to Southern MT and Yellowstone many times so we would like to see something different. We have been to the southern section of T.R. National Park and Medora once as we only stayed two days there and I think it's worth a re-visit although nothing is cast in stone except the three days in Glacier. We can stay longer in the Glacier area however we can only spend about eight days out west once we leave Salem, then we have to high tail it back to Pa. Though I love to flyfish were really looking for interesting thinks to see and visit. Looking for suggestions.
  • Hopefully in Glacier you have the ability to get out of the vehicle and do some hiking. Good boots and hiking sticks are helpful.
One August we hiked up to Hidden Lake (1.5 miles) and someone had made a small snowman along the steps (some 600 of them as I remember)! While resting there a squirrel tried to take away our package of chips.
Get to Logan Pass Visitors Center before 10:30 to get a parking space.

  • July is a good month for Glacier.
That whole area is just gorgeous.
Bears, bighorns on the rocks can't say enough good things.
We camped right on Lake McDonald...every morning was just breathtaking!

Don't forget about Waterton across the border it's just as beautiful.
Have a great time up there...it's difficult to not be impressed.
