- CroweExplorerThe only way to know is to try and book a site.
- ReneeGExplorerWe always take our trips in early to mid September due to our work schedules and have gone to Glacier twice at that time. Several CG's are open, but many are closed. We've never stayed in the park due to the size of our RV, but have instead stayed outside the park. Glacier has a web site and lists the openings and closings of parks along with how soon they fill. Here is the link to the campground status
- pulsarExplorerDo you want to stay in a park campground or outside at a private campground?
Inside the park Apgar, on the west side, doesn't take reservation (except for some of the group sites); sites are on a first come, first served bases.
Fish Creek on the west side and St Mary on the east side and part of Many Glacier take reservations. I imagine those sites are already reserved for your time frame.
If you want to stay outside the park, I doubt the KOA's, one on the east side and one on the west side, are full, if you reserve now. Again, you can check availability on their websites.
Tom - Edd505ExplorerTry here water & electric, honey wagon does free pump outs Mon, Wed, Fri. NO OTA TV, No Wifi, No cell service. They have a shelter that has cell & WiFi but not at the site. Really Dark sky's for those that want to look up.

Considering visiting this park in Aug/Sept. What are our chances of getting RV sites for that time frame? Is it really booked like other parks?
We are from Montana. Forget August. You really need to wait till the kids go back to school. There are a couple of good places in West Glacier. The best though, imho is Mountain Meadow in Hungry Horse. https://mountainmeadowrv.com/ A decent place close to eat there is the Tamarack lodge.
This place has beautiful campsites with full service. They have a dump onsite and an honeywagon. You can even trout fish in their pond without getting an MT license. Free if you throw back by the inch charge if you want to cook them.
I'd call and they can let you know when sites open up after the summer. They told us a couple weeks ago they are full up through August as are most. There are others including a KOA parking lot one called Glacier Campground (another good place imho). West Glacier is a good base camp. You can do easy day trips to the east side (Many Glacier). We recommend doing the loop over the Going to the Sun road (with a toad) and around the bottom of the park. Unless you like narrow windy roads, take the route out to Browning and come back to save time. The windy route is scenic. Stop at the Izaak Walton Inn for dinner on the way back (good trout) and they have rooms in old cabooses. You can go take a look. Very neat. WARNING! There are a few miles of road just east of Izaak Walton that are National Park. You go from 70 to 55 without warning and then back to 70 mph. The National Park police watch carefully through there. Pay attention.
This is our recommendation. And Kalispell is close and has everything you might need from a city standpoint. - ReneeGExplorerI agree on Mountain Meadows being a great RV. Very wooded. One does not feel like you're in an RV park. Now, with a satellite on our RV, we prefer West Glacier KOA. They are spacious and in September, you can get three days for the price of two and there are very few people.
- ppineExplorer IIGlacier has a short season and the use is compressed into July and August. Going after Labor Day would be best. There are some RV parks next the park that are good places to stay.
- LittleJimsSonExplorerSt. Mary Campground on the East side does NOT take reservations after Labor Day. Usually lots of sites available then. Enjoy the visit!
