Goose Island State Parker

Has anyone camped at Goose Island State Park and would make a recommendation? Good Sites?

We are going to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and looking for a good RV park. Prefer full hookups.

Thanks for any ideas.

  • They have water and electric no sewer but you can dump on the way out. I love camping at Goose Island State Park. They have sites in the woods and on the water.
  • Bayfront at Goose island is real nice, campsites are right at the water and you can catch some amazing sunsets right behind you. If you end up in the wooded area bring about a gallon of bug spray per person. it can get pretty thick back there, but it is real peaceful

As for other campsites in the area, Ive always heard Hoppers Landing was decent enough from my fishing buddies. never been there though
  • Thanks for the input. Since we are going in February, I hope there are not many mosquites. This sounds like a neat State park and a lot to see in the area.
  • Yea its a nice area, If you have some extra time drive down and take the ferry across to Aransas and make your way down to corpus. Its a pretty drive and there is a ton of stuff do to along the way
  • Many times we have camped at Goose Island, stay on the bay side. I try to get sites 25 to 29 that are really level. Look on google earth for a better view. I post most of my pictures of campgrounds on FB.

  • Just a guess but are you looking for Whooping Cranes? Check ebird.org There are usually a couple of families of WC within a mile of Goose Island SP. They are often difficult to find or see in the refuge. There also some nice boat tours that will get you pretty close to WC's.
  • We spent a few days at Goose Island and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were in a Bayfront site, #25, and were treated to some spectacular sunsets. Here is a post on our website with pix and comments.

    Have a great trip!
