Gulf State Park

I just booked a site at Gulf State Park for June 7-11. This is our first time down to this area. We will be coming in Thursday a little before lunch should we have a good choice of sites or are they usually full this time of the week. Will they allow you to drive thru and pick a site or do you decide at the gate? I would love to hear of any recommendations of places to see and places to eat. I have a 15 & 13 year old kids so I hope there is something in the area for them.

no see many bikes locked up while there, wish the kids parked them better at times
at gate ask for a permit to fish. Nice queit enjoyable area, and had no problems during the last 2 hangout fest. or any of the other times we have been there past 4 yrs.

Can't comment on the fishing, but all local network channels (ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and PBS) are available over the air.

Can you pick up any tv station via camper antenna really don't feel like fooling with satellite. Husband would like to know of any good fishing charters. What fish is in Lake Shelby and does campers have to have fishing license or permit to fish it. Thanks for the help/

Take the boys to the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola on the day that the Blue Angels practice. Very cool for everyone. Bring a hat as you'll be out in the sun.

Stay away from the Warf restruant. Only bad dining I experienced there.
We like to stat in 390 area next to bath house and can fish at middle overlood it id a Gazebo . Lots are great. easy way to get to the CG is to turn LEFT at the intersection beside of BB&T bank cross from Burger king (The turn takes you beside of a HIDDEN Wall mart) get in the right lane and take the right "Y", go about 1/3 mile hang left at the "Y" (follow sign as if going to cabins/golf course. CG is 2 miles on left. Well marked and open 24/7 and nice people there. Cw is in Robertsdale and they are GREAT IMO only traded 2 times ther and service is 4.0 Tange outlet, several Play stages in the area, and good to great fishing even on the party boats *5 bucks 6hr. trips.

Any other recommendations for good sites or places to eat/see? We'll be down around the same time, June 9-16, with our friends and their 9yo.

Thanks dodgebob08, blog works now and I appreciate being able to see pictures and descriptions. We are going down there for the first time at the end of this month to practice snowbirding for a while. We made reservations this past summer.

Take a day trip to Ft Morgan. It's the most interesting fort I've very seen.
And you have to see Naval Musuem and the lighthouse in Penscola. Both well worh the visit.

I've really never seen a bad site in the Park unless you have to be right on the water and it's not the ocean. All the sites are paved, level and equally roomy as I recall.
