We spend a long time boondocking on the BLM land in the Quartzite, Az area and want to start hauling a blue boy (BB) behind our newly purchased Honda CRV to haul waste to the dump station. What is the best way to attach the BB behind the car? I am concerned about the small plastic wheels and going over rough roadways and also not being able to see the BB behind the car. What are my options?

Do you have a hitch on your CRV? That is what they are designed to hook to ( a loop on the handle over the trailer ball) I have one and they do not like rough roads very much, especially if it has the small plastic wheels, you can upgrade it to larger rubber ones and it would be better off - road. I can not see mine behind my truck, but I just go really slow (5-8 mph) to the dump station.

Get a 5 to 10 gallon tote that you can put inside the CRV. If that doesn't work get better wheels with bearing put on the tote and go very slow.

We were looking at one of those Reese hitch platforms so you don't have to drag the tote behind. They make one with a ramp that you would use to haul a mobility scooter, making it easy to get the tote on the platform. Check out Harbor Freight.

I have found a second hand trailer hitch with 2 inch receiver for the back of the CRV and am thinking about buying it to pull a BB and also for a bicycle carrier.I think the idea of carrying the BB inside the trunk of the CRV sounds safer than pulling it on the ground.

Folks like this guy have retrofitted their blue totes with Harbor Freight pneumatic tires:As far as attachment, I use a ratchet strap to secure the tote to the safety chain spots on the hitch receiver.

Yep, a trip to the Big Boys' Toy Store (Harbor Freight) for the wheels. I replaced the original axle and got a longer rod at Home Depot. This allowed for several washers to build the new wheels out from the tank and the use of clip pins for easy wheel removal. The wheels also do double duty as they are used on our PVC canoe cart.

I think if you read the information that came with that rolling tank it clearly says it is NOT intended to be towed on the highways.

I tried but could not find where any body wrote that they were towing their blue boy on the highway.

Who said anything about hauling it on the hwy? Wants to haul from campsite to the dump station.

Those familiar with the BLM camping at Q knows that you have to travel a couple of miles on gravel roads to reach the dump stations. This can be done at very slow speed as it's not a major road. I have installed a receiver hitch on the back of the Honda and will be putting some rubber tires on the blueboy. Thanks for all the replies.
