Hidden Gem/ Corinth CG in Double Springs Alabama

If you ever want a nice clean quiet campground in the middle of a National Forest consider Corinth in Double Springs AL. It is in the Bankhead National Forest and is part of the of the Forestry Service. They have over 50 huge sites with paved pads long enough for any rig which are split between two loops. All sites are 30/50 Amp with water, sewer, picnic table, fire pit and lantern poles. All sites and roads are very easy to navigate. It is located on Smith Lake which can be seen from many of the sites. Included in the camping fee is free access to a beach on the lake as well as a large boat ramp. They also have plumbed bath houses in each loop. They open in March and close at the end of October. The fee is $34 per night or just $17 with the Senior National Pass. Corinth CG is located just east of Double Springs on HWY 278. It is 37 miles west of Cullman AL, 37 miles east of Hamilton AL and 65 miles north of Birmingham AL. Just thought that I would share this with you as it is so under utilized and it is a shame to let it go to waste.

A concessionaire company took over the operation of Bankhead spring 2013. Let's hope it doesn't get more expensive and that they continue to take the senior card.

Glad that you enjoyed your stay and that everything worked out for you. We really enjoy it there. We were not there for Labor Day as we were at Auburn for the kick off of the season. We lease a lot at University Station RV Resort for football season.

Thank you Bob and Ann for taking the time to write your review.

I thought I had waited too long for reserving a site for Labor Day and thought we were out of luck until I read your review. We're a little over a hundred miles away and took a chance on a holiday weekend and no reservation (which was a first for us) and hoped your review didn't appeal to too many other people that we couldn't get in. Well it was worth all my anxiety about not having a reservation.

When we arrived around noon on friday, Mary the camp host, was very friendly and directed us to the remaining sites. There weren't many but one that suited us perfectly. It was so quiet and peaceful it was hard to believe it was a major holiday weekend. My sister came later that day and she was also able to get a nearby pull through site. We were able to get satellite from her site and watched opening day of college football outside with nobody anywhere close enough to disturb. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend.

It is very rustic and off the beaten path but we loved it. Will definitely go back. Thanks again for the recommendation.

We stopped there two years ago and found it a very nice place. Here are some pictures and comments from our stay.

Also how strict is the "no alcohol" clause? We don't throw wild parties, but we like to have a few beers around our motorhome.

I have, over the years, seen many "NO ALCOHOL" signs at various public campgrounds but have never heard of anyone being kicked out of a campground unless they caused trouble or flaunted the use of alcohol outside their own campsite.

Corinth is the same way. I just would not flaunt the use of alcohol.

There is a pretty good Mexican Restaurant just eight miles away in Double Springs. It is Buenavista and is very reasonable.

We first camped here in 1977. Over the years it has been improved several times and is now a really nice place. We enjoy this park very much...........

We booked a reservable site then switched to a better site when we got there. Campground hosts were very nice. We were there Spring Break and they were not full. As for the no alcohol policy, I don think there will be a problem if you are discrete about it.
