High season Oregon coast RV park monthly rates

I love the Oregon coast, and have spent most of the last few summers there, paying through the nose for weekly motels. I would like to try transitioning to an RV park for weekly or monthly stays, but the rates I'm seeing make my eyes bulge out. I can't believe that ANYONE would be so crazy as to pay $85 a night (or worse!) for the privilege of parking on a 10x50 slab of concrete. But apparently, there is no price resistance on the part of the RV crowd...(I would just walk away laughing, but I appear to be in the minority).

What should I expect to pay for a full hookup site if I pay monthly? What parks offer the best value? I wouldn't have to be right on the ocean, nor would I care much about "amenities" like a shower building or a clubhouse. I do realize, by the way, that there are lots of nice state parks available for dry camping, but length of stay is usually limited and furthermore, they're $21-25 a night for no-hookup sites (there are a few with hookups, but they're pricey, and very hard to obtain).

I would be happy staying anywhere from Brookings to Astoria. I think $1000 a month is ludicrous for that slab of concrete, but can you get away with paying even that "little," or is it even worse?

(BTW, just about every little town on the OR coast has an ordinance against entering town in your RV without blowing some money, so you'll get hounded off the street by the local PO-lice within two minutes of parking your rig; you're expected to go rent that $85/night slab or keep moving, stranger.)

Have done a whole lot of camping on all three coasts and the only parks that charge anywhere near that price are about three in Ca, two in Oregon and none in Wa. The two in Oregon are right on the beach.

Also, I have NEVER seen any Wa or Or coastal town that won't let you park unless you spend some money. In fact, I was feeding the meters in one place where I found enuff open spots to fit my TT and TV,60' total, into, with enuff space to pull out when we were finished and the meter maid came up and asked me why I was parking there when there was an rv parking available a block away. I told her that there were too many cars parked there for me to be able to get in and out. She told me not to plug the other two meters and headed for the rv parking lot in a hurry to write some tickets. The rv parking lot is signed as "RV Parking, only others will be towed."

Here's one at Mapleton, OR for around $400-$500/month.

Go to RVParkReviews.com and explore all the parks for Oregon. I'm sure you can find some much cheaper than $1000/month.

Become a member of the Elks and they have reasonable parks all over. Join Passport America and their parks are 1/2 price. Granted, there are restrictions. Volunteer and get your site free. There are many ways to save money. That's what full-timers do.

That's the one I know of too. Also Pacific Shores at the north end of Newport. They have a variety of prices, but the ocean view sites can get up to $100 I think.

Just curious as to what parks on the Oregon coast charge $85 a night? Been camping on the Oregon coast for many years and never seen that high of a price. Come to think of it, never paid that much anywhere. For a little over $600 you can buy a one year NW zone pass with Thousand Trails.
That gets you 30 days no charge a year and after that it's $3 a night. Not a bad deal. They have a park in Florence, Newport, Pacific City, and Seaside.

Many of the nicer private RV parks in Oregon don't rent sites at monthly rates, especially in June, July & Aug.

Seems like you haven't done much research. I've RV'd the Oregon Coast for about the past 5 years, staying in private RV parks, and have never paid anywhere near $85/night. Also I've never experienced what you describe in your last paragraph. But I do know of a few parks in that price range. Have a look at rvparkreviews.com. Check out all the little towns along the coast. You'll find something.

Have you looked at the great Oregon State Parks on the Coast. There are a ton of them in prime locations...all around $30 per night full hooks.

Obviously they don't care if you rent it for a month or not. Must be busy enough where they have no need, or don't want, monthly folks.

It's a short season and very popular. Isn't that why you want to spend the summer there?
