OMG you don't have to go to savanah! First, check out the Johnson Creek Tavern, just outside the park gates. Good food and lots of good energy. Write your wish on a $1 bill and staple it to the wall; thousands are displayed right now; they donate all to good causes. Then go on down the road a couple miles to Gay Fish Company for the freshest most delicious shrimp. We love our shrimp dinners at the campground! Plan lunch on the porch at The Plum Restaurant in downtown Beaufort, looking out over the newly renovated park and the river. Tour some of the old houses. After lunch go across the street to the Southern Sweets ice cream shop for a treat. Much to see in the little shops in Beaufort. And be sure to climb to the top of the lighthouse at least once on Hunting island. Or walk out the long causeway into the tidal marsh at sunset and see the wildlife at sunset. So much to do. Savannah? Too much right there at HI.
