I84 PA or NY

When travelling from FL. to MA, our last stop is Promised Land SP in Greentown PA. Does anyone know of a one night stopover that would be E of Promised Land? Possibly in PA or NY. There used to be the Walmart near Port Jervais but I understand that overnighting is not allowed there any longer.

Thanks
Judi
  • There is a campground at the intersection of 78 and 81 that is open all year.
  • There is an RV Park at the Port Jervis exit. http://www.tristatervpark.com/
  • There is a walmart in Middletown, off I84 exit 4W, and another in Newburgh, I84 exit for route 17K and 300.(im sorry but the exit number escapes me) I cant speak for Middletown, but newburgh has overnight RVers.
  • There is also a Pilot at around exit 5 or 6 I believe in NY;can't remember the exact exit number.
  • We use Tri State in Port Jarvis when traveling from NC to MA. It is fine for an overnight stay. Easy on/off from interstate. This year (September,2016) I am glad I called in advance for a pull thru site because it was full with workers. Once you leave this area, you enter New York and we have never found anything for many hours.
  • Thank you all. We will give TriState a call in May when we head North. We have used Promised Land State Park but it is 8 miles off I84 and for overnight it seems a little too far.

  • Judi, when I made a reservation for September, 2016, the lady only wanted my name, no cc #. When we got there and saw how busy they were ( workers probably gone now. It was interstate work) and two motorhomes in front of us for check in, I got worried she had not saved a spot for us. Well she had and it was a pull through. It isn't the best campground but sure is very close to interstate and works well for an overnight stay. And no, that Wal Mart does not allow overnight parking.
  • Our first and last stop on our snowbird treks from MA is Mahlon Dickerson Reservation in northern NJ, just off I-80 north of Dover. I realize this isn't near I-81/I-84 so you'd have to change your routing a bit, but it's a very nice, small county-run campground with an excellent bathhouse.
