It looked like you said you had decided on VT, since you have not been there. Good idea. I lived there for 45 year and miss it every day. You have been given some good VT suggestions. Our personal choices out of those given would be, Quechee KOA, for it's mid state location and Champlain Adult for it's peaceful and beautiful setting. If you decide on the latter, you could watch the ferries pass the campground carrying passengers across Lake Champlain,from VT to NY, and when you leave, take that ferry to NY - hook up with the NY Northway south to head home.
