Is Yuma safe

Hi, and please don't tell me crime is everywhere. There are places that are safer than others. If you stayed in Yuma, did you find it a safe place around town as you shopped and ran errands. Thanks for your opinion.

We laugh because otherwise we would cry, over the racism that is destroying American ideals.

Relative; comparative, comparable, correlative to the question being asked.
Revelant; applicable or pertinent to the question being asked. Either will work.

Ohhh, you meant relevant, not relative! Oh wait, am I JBF? No? Nevermind.

You need to lighten up a bit otherwise Yuma is going to be your death! The issue is your question is way to broad and generic to provide any answer in any context so. any all responses, serious or humorous is fair game. Can you imagine the responses if you had asked that of Sutherland Springs, TX with no context as to your concern?

When asking about the safety of an area, it helps if the concerns you have are explained so misleading or out-of-context information can be explained and properly used to help you make a decision.

I find Yuma to be one heck of a safe area despite what anyone says. But, in context, I'm often assigned to areas where mass tragedies are unfolding so I know how to put isolated incidents or one off events into perspective. Additionally, negative areas that are confined with little to no impact on the rest of the area is not going to define that entire community. This is why perspective and context is important. Once again, imagine the entire area of and around Sutherland Springs TX being defined forever by that one single event of November 5th last year.

Trying to help here: what do you mean by relative answer? Like is Yuma better or worse relative to Tucson?

You may need to bring your sense of humor with you when you come here. I didn't find any responses offensive, just playin' with the OP. That's how this place is, and I seriously doubt any complaining about it will change anything.

2oldman, I came to this forum to see what people did say about Yuma. DH retires Jan. 4th 2019 and we were considering a few areas out in Arizona for winter and Yuma happened to be one of them. And when I began to read ridicule about an honest question being asked I was just wondering why people cant just be nice and answer a question. Tara

There isn't a question on this board that hasn't gotten some form of ridicule or criticism. You've been around long enough to see that.

areavibes has the crime rate in Yuma at 76% higher than the national avereage
Sperling rates Yuma's violent crime at 49.5. National avereage is 31.1
Neighborhood Scout puts Yuma down at the bottom of their list of US cities to 14, (100, being the safest)

I tend to research the places I plan to stay in long term. That's why I posted the question here on the forum for qualified answers, not immature criticism.
Granted, there are safe areas outside crime ridden cities. Folks that stay in Yuma for the winters should be qualified to relay those campgrounds or areas to those of us who have never been there. From the few positive replies, I would guess the Foothills and areas East of the city are safer as opposed to around downtown. If you find this response an insult to your loyalty to Yuma, then please ignore this post. It's not going to help me or anyone else interested in a qualified, (and relative) answer.

You didn't answer it. You just came here to complain about the other responses.

Some of us don't think this is a legit question.

Seriously why cant people just answer a legit question with out sarcasm? I thought this is why we have forums like this. I didn't see anything wrong with the OP question. If you have nothing nice to say just don't reply. Tara
