It's not too late to book Florida for this winter...

We normally make most of our reservations for the coming winter season in southern Georgia and Florida while we're there the previous winter the moment the reservation windows open. This year we were on hold waiting for the medicine men and witch doctors to decide if my wife would be able to make the trip or not. Well, this morning we finally got the go ahead, and I've just finished booking the entire January into April stay at two Georgia state parks, 7 Florida state parks, and 1 National Forest park. In each case there weren't many sites available, often only 2 or 3 that we fit in, so we didn't have a lot of site choice, but at least we know it won't be north country cold on any of them. If you're late in deciding to snowbird in Florida this winter, don't give up, there are sites available with a little searching. You likely won't find prime sites on the coasts, so inland from central Florida north is probably your best bet. Our goal is warm weather rather than tourist activities, and the state/national parks fit our needs just fine without busting the budget.
  • Thanks for the kind words, folks! And yes, we really do look forward to moving south to Florida after we spend the holidays with our kids in upstate NY.
  • Glad your wife got the approval! We stay on the Gulf coast for a couple weeks in February. After not getting a spot the previous 2 years, we finally got a spot again this year! Super excited!!!
  • Glad you are getting to go! I think what causes many snowbirds problems as stated is wanting prime locations and staying in one location all season. Your flexibility of staying in different locations and parks was definitely in your favor. Have a great trip!
  • That's great, I'm glad your wife got the ok to travel. Enjoy your winter! We are still working but dream of a winter month in the keys.
  • Good for you, I'm happy it's working out for ya. It's getting more and more difficult to book places in the warm winter states. We're booked for Florida for thirty days in Feb/March 2019, looking forward to the warmth. Then on to AZ for a few weeks from there, can't wait for "winter"!

    Enjoy your spring adventure! :B
