Kitty Hawk NC Camping

Hoping to stop be Kitty Hawk on our way north in April Looking fr recommendations for RV parks and sites to visit

Thanks,

Jim
  • We stayed at the KOA a bit below Kitty Hawk (it was a good central point for attractions to the north (kitty hawk) and south (frisco and lighthouses). We really liked it - it's on the beach and some sites have little wooden picnic tables with roofs. That worked well for us on windy days in spring when we couldn't have the awning out. Beach sites are right up on the dunes - we were one row off and had an amazing pull through.

Highly recommend the Frisco Sandwich Company for lunch while you're in the area. It was one of our best meals while we were there.
  • I also recommend OBX campground, nice place and it is within blocks of the Kitty hawk Park and monument.
  • There are several lighthouses to visit, the Wright Brothers memorial, Kitty Hawk kites for those that want a little thrill, wild horses up at the north end in Corollo, The Lost Colony theatre in Manteo,,,,, uh How long were you staying?
  • Camp Hatteras is about 20 miles south. An awesome campground right on the water with great staff.
  • There are several National Seashore Campgrounds on the Outer Banks. We stayed in Frisco Campground. It's pretty far south of Kitty hawk but we stopped there on the way down. They have parking for RV's.
