Leavenworth Washington, Campground near the River

Planning my big trip for the year in July to Leavenworth Washington,
need a campground near the river to launch my small boat and what is the best eats and beer in town..

:C
  • Icicle Creek. Take the left off Hwy. 2 where all the rafting vans and trailers are parked.

Thanks, I have never been in that area before, can you use a small boat with small motor on that river or is it just rafts only
  • Looking at the campground pics the Icicle creek looks to rocking for a small motor boat, what about the main river near the town
  • Also consider Wenatchee Confluence State Park...a scenic and easy half hour drive from Leavenworth.

Great park right on the banks of both the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers. Boat ramp in the park. Full hook-ups, large, grassy, spacious, paved sites, great paved bike trail.

    Thanks will check it out
  • X2 on the Wenatchee Confluence except that you might be too late to get a reservation. Wash state parks, especially those near water are VERY popular and fill up early.
As far as the eats are concerned, most of the food in the downtown area is just regular tourist food.I've been there a number of times and only had a couple of good meals. There is one that is downstairs on the main street that has a pork shank that is huge and s'posed to be good, but I was underwhelmed by the rest of their food. They have a couple of local craft beers that are good, even though one is brewed in the Seattle area. If you want some really good beers, you need to go to Several breweries in the downtown Seattle area or better yet, take a ferry over to the Kitsap Peninsula for some outstanding beers.
  • The Wenatchee River does not allow motors. It's pretty much a rafting river, but there's a lot of salmon right now in the Icicle. It will be very crowded and busy with the salmon fishing crowd.
